WP Affiliate Ultimate – WordPress Plugin

Here is what WP Affiliate Ultimate is about:

WP Affiliate Ultimate is a plugin that

• let’s you automatically insert affiliate links into your text (which is very important, see the video regarding the Hubspot study)
• cloak those links, so Google doesn’t see them as affiliate links (bad for SEO) and … well, see the video, it ain’t pretty

Here are the Pros of WP Affiliate Ultimate:

Easy to install, does what it says on the tin.

A couple of things you need to look out for when firing it up the first time.

• MUST have at least one entry – otherwise your site won’t have any content any more. Rather odd, I know… But: not really an issue, just make sure to first install, then immediate add a keyword/link combo to it, then you’re good to go.
• cannot have forward-slash in keword (no real drawback, but need to be aware), see the video review below for details.
• the plugin doesn’t convert H-tags (which is good), but it doesn’t say that on the tin.

Here are the Cons of WP Affiliate Ultimate:

None really, apart from the non-intuitive behavior at startup and with the slash (but that may well be due to my WP setup, I’ve got a bunch of commercial plugins, so there may be some interference)!

Tip on the side: when you add a keyword (for a specific post) and it doesn’t turn into a link, make sure you have the ‘maximum links per page’ setting set high enough! It may well be the case that the plugin has already converted the maximum number and you’re wondering why that ONE you’re trying to get it to link doesn’t get cloaked.
